Hi, RTR, It was getting to the point that I couldn't hold onto a needle as I was stitching; can't have that! I have too many patterns, plus too much fabric & thread to give up stitching!!! Some of the stuff online suggests that I may have put it off too long, but hopefully not! Still have some tingling in the fingers, etc. I agree that surgery for your sister probably wasn't a good option. Challenge behaving one's self with the stitches, etc. Thanks for the hugs!
Banana Boat- It is really nice where they live. It's nice to be in walking distance to the ocean but also really close to the trees. We go hiking about as much or more than we go to the beach. So sad that those trees are burning now 😕😢
Kestergayle is on the Facebook page, not sure if she does much on goodreads
Noelle, see if you can talk KesterGayle into coming on these forums.Like RTR I think goodreads is a mess and I don't do facebook.I can barely do these forums LOL. I mainly lurked on Amazon but the "book buying confessional" thread was one I followed every day.I am happy for you and your husband that he's doing better. I always enjoyed KG'sstories about her jewelry and her clothes and her terrible renter. It was nice to find this thread again on these forums.
Hi bobby19, so nice to hear from those who enjoyed our Amazon thread. I agree with you , I think she would enjoy it here as well. Just yesterday she was wanting to link a pic of a new necklace she bought but was having trouble. This is more like what we had at Amazon and not too hard to use. I have told her all of this, that she can link her jewelry and such but I think that all of this change could just be a bit overwhelming. I don't think some of the ladies that are in Facebook understand how it works there as well. It's a closer group so only members can see what is posted but because their posts show up in their news feed, they think others can see as well. That's another reason why I think they would like it here better. I shall keep trying. 😊

Welcome KC and Retired to Read. This board is kind of like moving to a new town. You have to find the gas station, grocery store, the doctor and pharmacy, get used to the roads. A little frustrating at first, but the more I come here I like it better. I liked the ammy threads, so easy to use. However, I enjoy the privacy here.
I did join the Facebook group, but was unhappy to see posts popping up on my page, so I don't post much. I do hope Kestergayle will take a closer look at us. She's Gayle at Goodreads. Even if she only tried this one thread, I think she might like it. One thing leads to another and I browse around and find new stuff.
One thing I like is the Master Thread I think it's called. I would like it to be a bit more 'out there' for new users. I still have yet to figure out the quote and reply system. I always message people, then slap myself mentally thinking oh heck I should have tried the quote thing. Oh well, I'll get there eventually.
I really have to express appreciation to Samantha K for this board. Sadly I ignored it until the end, but I kept the address, so here I am. I'm sure it takes a lot of time for maintenance and tweaking, so I hope she still 'has a life'.
And oh yes the fires. The news here in Texas is sparse, frustrating especially since I don't know CA very well. Thanks to all for the updates. Did anyone see the guy who found his parents' dog? It looked like maybe a Burmese Mountain dog? It was on video and I can't imagine how it survived. And the story about the woman who biked her dog out. She had what looked like a pit bull. She grabbed him and took off in the car, but soon turned back; it was practically a parking lot. She got out her bike, explained the way of things to the dog. He hopped in her back pack and away they went. Gosh, hope she remembered the leash. They had to leave fast.

"Moving to a new town", what a perfect comparison and so true. I'm not a fan of FB or GR and I'm very happy here. Another thing I like here is that anyone can join and everyone is so helpful. I'd love to see GK here and posting links to her new jewelry, always so interesting and pretty. I think with time our group will continue to grow. We haven't heard much about the fires here in Calif lately. I know they're worried about the weather in the LA area as its near 100 with the Santa Anna winds. Very dangerous. The first game of the World Series is there tonight. I think here in the middle of the state we'll hit about 86. 🎃

Hi Noelle, I've gotta tell you I'm about sick of this weather!!! At least it cools down into the 60s fairly early in the evenings and is cool in the AMs. Did you hear that last night at the first game of the World Series (LA) it was 103 at 5:00???
I did hear that it would be the hottest World Season, in record I beleive. Santa Cruz was over 90• yesterday, they were actually hotter there than here and that never happens. Lol
No, my friends dont have a.c. at their house. We tried to buy a portable one when we were there in September during the heat wave but the stores were all sold out....it reached 106 that day.....miserably hot

I did see those stories about the fire and people finding/saving their pets. Love those stories , all of the survival stories really. I watched one of two young men who were trying to drive out of it, one was filming it while they were trying to escape. It really gave an idea of what being in the middle of an inferno would be like and it was terrifying. All you could see was flames everywhere, flying embers and smoke. One of the guys had to get out of the car to open a gate, he walked through all of that , opened the gate and got back in. He said he couldn't do it again as there was one more gate they had to get through, his arms were burnt. You can hear him say they were going to die but the driver said they weren't dead yet and kept driving, drive through the second gate and made it to safety. It was a crazy video to watch. So happy they made it out
