I have it, but I've not read it yet...shoot, I've not read the last two yet! You know me, very few that I read immediately...outside of the In Deaths. Those are inhaled immediately!
Well, darn, I still can't get covers copied in here...sure wish SRJ would come back, she could always tell me how to do that! I sure wish I knew what had happened to her & hope a great deal that she's enjoying retirement!
At any rate: take a look at these two covers: one is flipped, but sure look the same to me! I found another one of Vivian Arend's covers used before; one from her six pack ranch series. This time, it's bk 2 of her Turner Twins:
Yep, I just mentioned over in Weekend reading; I didn't go HR after finishing Paige Tyler's SWAT #10; I went contemporary! Not surprising, after weeding the Linda Howards, I opened one of her older ones...says copyrighted in 1988, pbk published in 1998. At any rate, I guess it's still contemporary.... Kill & Tell Set in New Orleans & Columbus OH. Also, her Shades of Twilight is calling my name. I considered Dream Man but I can still quote that one!
I can't believe it; showers mixed with snow tonight, and freeze warnings out for Sat. AM. We were in the upper 70's Tues. & Weds; very nasty line of thunderstorms came thru last night (happily, my power stayed on--lots of folks didn't) and the tornados started popping after the storm front passed my area. One heck of lightning show tho'! Windy all day today, temps in the mid-40's & with that wind, I've put my winter coat on each time I've gone outside! Brrrr! Hey, mid-April. Anything can happen, and usually does!
Crazy, sounds like your weather can't make up it's mind. Lol It's been a little like that here though no where nearly as confused as yours. ☺ It's gone from sunny and warm (low to mid 70') to rainy and cold. Though we're supposed to be warm and sunny and again by this weekend.
My husband told me today that he wasn't comfortable with the thought of me opening my Daycare back up until there is a vaccine for this virus. I reminded him that it could take up to a year or more before one is out for us and he said he knew that. Crazy but I used to wish I didn't have to work but we still need the money. Things could be very tight , money wise , here for a while . 😬😷
It was spectacular but I admit, I could do with less of it; I'm not in the mood to replace the roof again so soon & severe thunderstorms always make me wonder/worry!
Good luck, Noelle, I understand your husband's concerns, esp with his physical conditions, but yeah, money is always a concern as well! Even if a vaccine is available, then there's the concern about folks getting the vaccine or are they going to take the attitude that vaccines are bad...etc. I'm afraid we're going to be seeing a lot of this thing for a lot of years!
A symbol of how times have changed: I was in Naked in Death yesterday, checking on when Eve first looked into Roarke's data; it listed his estimated gross worth as 3 Billion, 800 million! Yep, back in 1995 that probably seemed like a lot! But now, almost 40 years before the story's time, Jeff Bezos NET worth is 145 Billion, Bill Gates is 99 billion...maybe we should think of Roarke as 3 Trillion? Or even Quadrillion? and I had to check if that was next: weird, in US it's 15 zeros, in UK it's 24 zeros. WOW! That's quite a difference!
And that financial stuff did change very quickly; financial history on Jeff Bezos, he went billionaire in 1999 with 10 billion. Dropped for a few years, all the way down to 1.5 billion (poor fella) but then he started going back up... We've laughed about all the titles or H descriptions as billionaires these days, a millionaire a mere piker; how long before those titles/descriptions change over to trillionaire?
Hmm, out of curiosity, I looked up 1995 billionaires, & Bill Gates was a billionaire back then; actually there were 289 billionaires! Maybe NR meant to say Trillionaire!
Yep, millionaire would work fine for me! That article that was talking about 289 billionaires in 1995? Over half of them aren't any more, some because of death, some because of spreading among family, but most because of "business problems". Be a lot of trouble doing that...I'll just buy a lottery ticket when it's only a couple million, don't have to complete with everyone, and then sock the winnings away... Of course, it would help if I'd actually buy a lottery ticket...
I finished After Sundown and it was a strong finish,I gave the book 4* . I'm not sure what to read next though. I've been going through my books , keeping all 4 and 5*. If I had rated it 3* then I take a closer look at the story and the tags I gave it to determine if I might read it again before tossing it into the donation pile and all 1 & 2* automatically get tossed into the donation pile. It's slow going because I have 5 dogs who want to follow me each time I get up to put the books in their prospective piles and sit in my lap while scanning them. Tonight I may put them outside lol
