I thought one of you might know so I figured I'd ask. I read a series within the last couple of years and can't remember the series name or author. Set in Florida (I think), they all live in a town and turn into dogs. Not wolves, but dogs, which makes it different. Any ideas?
I have so many books on my ipad I cringe at the idea of scrolling back far enough to potentially find the books. Thanks for thinking....
ETA and as usual, after I ask for help, I continue looking and eventually stumble on the answer. I ended up typing "lgbtq paranormal romance dogs" and then went into the weeds but it led me to a website of book covers, where I went through several screens until I found a cover that looked familiar. And I think this is it -- Eli Easton's series Howl at the Moon. Unfortunately, I've read all five of the books and there haven't been any new ones published since I finished book 5. Oh well. Worth a try and I appreciate the help -- I know someone would have been able to help! :-)
Thanks Kareni, I LOVED THIS SERIES! :-) I've read them all unfortunately but would be happy if there were more. I appreciate the rec. If you think of more, please let me know. I wonder if this is the series I was thinking of, since this is set in Florida? I think I read both series back to back (Eli Easton and Cooper West) so I definitely could be mixing them up. There's another series set in Finland right on the Russian border -- I enjoyed that one too. That series isn't dog shifters though, they're tigers and wolves. If you're interested, I can figure out what series it was.
Kareni, I've included the link to the FinnShifters series on Amazon. Not sure if it's available at other retailers as I've purchased them from Amazon. Best part of this? There is a book four that I haven't read yet! I just borrowed it via KU so I'll be reading it soon. I enjoyed this series.
I just checked. I can loan you books 1-3! Let me know if you'd like to borrow them -- I'd be happy to loan them to you. :-)
What fun to find a new book in a good series! Thanks very much for the offer, ltr! It turns out that I own the first book in the series which is happy news. I'll attempt to move it nearer the front of the ebook pile and give it a try.

Kareni, I hope you like it! If you do and want to read books 2 and 3, just let me know. Happy to lend them. Happy reading!
We are getting a few inches of snow (I'm in Virginia) and I SO WISH I could have a snow day. Alas, I telework all the time so no snow day for me. :-)
So, idk if anyone remembers but I was looking for an MM hockey romance with bear shifters. It's been nagging at me for awhile and I'd do an occasional search. Well, I found it!
Loaded for Bear (Shifter Hardball Book 2) Kindle Edition by Cheyenne Meadows (Sorry, link isn't working on this device.)
Turns out it was baseball so no wonder the searches came up empty. I also realized why I gave it a pass...no separation between POV shifts was confusing and style wasn't really working for me.
In other news:
We've committed to homeschooling through the end of the year Even with the teachers vaccinated (and who knows how that works on the variant strains), we think it's a risky situation to expose my daughter who has some health issues. The majority of their friends/family have gone back to school with relatively brief interruptions so it's been hard being kind of the odd ones out. So they've been out of school and sports for a year and they've had truly minimal contact with anyone outside of our immediate household. I don't think we can do this again next year. The older ones, at least, have to go back in some form. We're not sure how that'll work yet but we're exploring some options.
And, on top of that, we've decided to get them a puppy! We currently have 2 rescues. A six year old we got about 4 years ago. Then we got another one last year right before everything went to hell. He's about 18 months old....very sweet but so, so dumb. He came from a reputable breeder but circumstances put him in a bad situation and we got him at 6 months. I'm not sure if it was those hard first months, the early separation from his mother, or deprived of oxygen at birth but he's definitely a few bones short of a picnic. But very sweet! Anyway, my aunt does rescue work and she had an accidental breeding. She's pretty upset at herself but it was just bad luck. The dog was too unhealthy to get spayed right away. She had to gain weight, a skin condition, and some other health problems that took time to resolve. Then the pandemic, my aunt injured her knee, her vet had to close for awhile...and then the neighbor's dogs got into her yard and here we are We're not sure which dog is the father but I guess we'll maybe be able to tell after they're born? They're due in about 10 days so we won't actually have the puppy till the end of May. We haven't told the kids yet but I'm sure they'll be excited. I'm looking at it as a reward for getting through this year.
I want to get some of my reads posted and update the upcoming book thread. Hopefully soon.
Riptide titles available through KU until June 15th. I'm not on KU but if anyone reads Counter Culture I'd be interested in thoughts. I like Merrow but the sample never grabbed me.
She has a couple free reads set in the Night Shift series. They cleared up a couple things I was wondering about after reading book 1 but also opened up some other mysteries. She struggles with world building, imo. There's also a free story set in the Digging Up Bones series. It was pretty good.
And something that falls under the heading of "what was I thinking?", we got 2 puppies. 2 sisters that are very attached to each other. I'm sure they would have adapted being apart but the kids advocated hard and we succumbed
8 healthy puppies and 1 stillborn. The other 6 all went to good homes. We have a big, fenced yard and the kids are sure to give them plenty of attention. They stayed a little over 9 weeks with their mother and we brought them home last week. Housebreaking is going a little better than expected and we're scheduled for an outdoor obedience course starting next week. We also enrolled one of our other dogs. He should have gone last year but the pandemic prevented it. Hopefully, it's not too late to resolve a few issues. He'll still have a home with us if he stays his same dumb self,
The kids were able to attend their final week of school in person. They were excited to participate in Field Day (athletic competitions) and spend time with friends. It's also the week that the teachers go over their summer coursework in case there's any questions. Summer reading and some other things to prevent too much learning loss. They all survived the week healthy but somehow I got a cold. (I'm vaccinated and wasn't very sick so I'm assuming it was a cold. I still isolated.). I wasn't exposed to enough germs during the pandemic, I guess.
Enjoy your new puppies, mjbett, and summertime with your family! ** I recently enjoyed the five book Out of Time series by C.B. Lewis. Each book features a different m/m couple; however, there is an overarching story that unfolds over the series. Thus this series is best read in order. I purchased all five books; they are lendable. If interested, let me know.

mjbett, I hope you're enjoying your puppies! What kind are they? We adopted a husky/german shepherd mix in March (we fostered her and never gave her back) and oh my gosh, is she harder to train than our typical herding dogs! She just doesn't care if we're happy or not. She's not unfriendly, she just doesn't really care if we want her to do this versus that. Sigh. But same for us, she's part of the family and will have a home with us regardless.
