**And I truly do not know the author. She’s just one of the best new-to-me authors I’ve discovered in the last few years. To be fair, most of my fiction reading has been rereads so I haven’t tried as many new authors as usual, but still…
Anyway, it’ll prob be awhile before these are offered again (couple years, at least) so now’s the time if you’re interested.
mjbett, can you still loan "You Could Make a Life"? If so, I'd be interested in trying it. I clicked on the "here" link above and saw that you'd mentioned it there.
ltr, Sorry, Amazon recently disabled all personal loans. I don’t even want to contemplate how many possible loans I had available. Tbh, I never did much loaning/borrowing (more on the old forum) but it was nice to know it was an option. There were a lot of times I justified paying a little more by knowing I could lend it out. So much for that
I never saw an official announcement from Amazon and it doesn’t seem to have gotten much discussion. I checked around on a few Amazon forums and GR but didn’t see anything anyway. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed for awhile except my cousin’s book group was having issues and she asked me if I knew anything.
So another stellar CS decision from Amazon
***I did really like You Could Make a Life though! Overall, I’d say the book itself was prob a 4, but all the little extra scenes from AO3 and the purchased extras bump it up to a 5. Impaired Judgement and it’s a setup are both really good and both are free on AO3. IJ is over 400,000 words but it’s a quick read. NA. I think it’s about 6 years in? Currently at a bit of a cliffhanger. IAS is almost 145,000 words. Very cute though can be a little OTT at times. I just really like her stuff
Haven’t read it but sounds interesting. I put it on my wish list but I’m going to sample and see how it pans out. I’m a bit leery of the length. I like longer books but, in general, I find that romance books have better pacing if they’re somewhere around the 300 page mark.
She posted the outtakes from 2022. This is just a compilation of the short story snippets she posts on her Tumblr page. Just little scenes, some AU stuff, fantasy, etc…I’ve enjoyed all the collections. This year is quite a bit shorter than past years but there’s still some good ones.
I don’t have the Tumblr app (and no desire to get it) but I do check her Tumblr page occasionally to get these stories and any other writing updates.

Yikes, DNF the sample. Writing style didn’t work for me. I thought it was pretty rough and choppy. The dialogue didn’t feel natural and the world-building required way too many capitals (capital letters, I mean) in the text, which contributed to the lack of flow for reading.
The final part of this year’s holiday installment is up for 4 Minute Window
I read some of the comments and sounds like this will be the last year that the author plans to do it. There might be smaller story continuations and she says she’s open to fans contributing segments so I guess it’s not done done but kinda over? I’ll admit some disappointment where things are left but it’s still a story I greatly enjoyed and I’d still rec.
it’s a setup Taylor Fitzpatrick aka Youcouldmakealife FREE at AO3. She’s marked this series as complete now. They’ll prob pop up in the outtakes (I’m guessing) but the main story is done. This isn’t my favorite story or couple but it’s still good/very good at times.
ltr, you’re a member of the Brooklyn Public Library, iirc.
Looks like they are no longer allowing out of state memberships. My cousin sent me this:
As of July 15, 2022, Brooklyn Public Library is no longer offering its fee-based out-of-state library card. Our priority remains serving Brooklynites and assuring that they can access the materials they need in a timely manner. BPL Library cards remain free for anyone who lives, works, pays property taxes or attends school in New York State. Existing out-of-state accounts will remain active until their expiration date and will not be renewable.

mjbett, yes I about cried when my card expired in March. Especially when I kept getting notifications that the books I had on hold were ready for me -- but of course I couldn't check them out any more. I even called and asked them to please remove my info as it was so painful. lol I asked if they might go back to letting out of state people be members, even charging $100 a year but the woman said they'd have to charge $200 or more to break even. So I can't blame them. It was really nice while it lasted.
This is driving me nuts and I hope someone can remember.
I'm looking for a hockey book where one H is trying to make the NHL (he's in the AHL now) and hires the other H to be his personal assistant. He wants to fully concentrate on hockey because he feels it's his last shot.
It might still be a preorder or recently released. I thought I would have posted in the Upcoming books thread but I'm not seeing it.
I have a feeling I'm going to be kicking myself when it gets figured out. I should know it!!
No wonder it didnt ring any bells - I gave up on this author after loving bk 1-3 from the Stick Side series with the rest all very blah. I gave up on bk 1 in the Orcas so let me know if this one is any good. Glad you found it.
Another Josh Lanyon rant so feel free to look away but I can’t stop watching this train wreck Also, she’s written a few of my favorites so I can’t quite quit her. I keep thinking maybe she’ll turn it around eventually.
The thing is, she had a big post last year where she acknowledged her issues (she’s done that before though) and said she wasn’t going to do preorders and just take it as it goes. I was encouraged.
I'm also waiting on another book in the art of Murder series by Josh Lanyon but no mentions so at least I am not being fed false promises. By the time she finishes any of her series I will have forgotten what the books were about and moved on to other authors, there are plenty out there. Her loss.
